MY BOOK HAS BEEN KINDLE-IZED

There have been no posts to this blog for over a week! I have added no chapters to The Dayspring Bible during this period! I have not written a word on any of my book projects! I have rarely checked my email! I have not Tweeted and I have not “Faced”! I have not gone shopping for groceries, and I have eaten all meals at my desk! I have not played Minesweeper or Solitaire! I have not done any goofing off of any kind! I have had my nose to the grindstone, my ear to the ground, and shoulder to the wheel!

What HAVE I been doing, you ask? Well, I’m glad you asked that question! I have been re-formatting my book, That All May Be Fulfilled, for the Kindle ebook reader. But this not just an announcement, it’s a saga of discovery as I have plumbed the depths of the mysteries of Kindle formatting.

Last year I tweeted everybody and announced that my book was now available at the Amazon Kindle Store. I had been led to believe that I could simply upload the PDF (Adobe Acrobat’s Portable document Format) file of my book and Amazon DTP (Digital Text Platform) would seamlessly transform the file to a Kindle AZT file. (I think this acronym stands for Amazon Whispernet which delivers content to Kindle devices.)

At the time I did not have a Kindle and did not check my book for readability before uploading it to Amazon. Imagine my consternation when I downloaded a sample of my book from Amazon for the new Kindle I got for Christmas, and found that all the conversion process did was make my PDF file accessible to the Kindle, but it was page for page, and when reduced to the size of the screen on a 6-inch Kindle, it was too small to read. And the font enlargement feature did not work either, so there was no way to enlarge the pages to readability on the Kindle screen.

Some research gave me the answer. I would have to convert my Microsoft Word files to HTML (HyperText Markup Language). Word allows you to convert a document to HTML, but it loads it up with a lot of coding that the Kindle cannot understand, so all that has to be stripped out manually (digging through the code and deleting anything you think is not necessary). This task was particularly burdensome, because the book has almost 200 footnotes, and each one had to be hyperlinked in the text to the corresponding endnote at the end of the book. In addition to that, all my Scripture quotations use superscript numbers, and each one had to be formatted individually.

It was laborious, monotonous, grunt work. But I learned a new skill which will serve me well in the future.

There are service providers who will do these conversions for a fee. A conversion of my book, with all its peculiar details, would have cost me $960. When you have more time than money, you have to resort to DIY (Do It Yourself) formatting.

Anyway, that’s where I have been all last week. I just hope that none of the dozen or so readers of this blog abandoned me during this hiatus.

BTW (By the way—don’t you just love all these geek shortcuts that the phone texting revolution has brought us) if you haven’t read That All May Be Fulfilled, you need to. Buy two copies, and if you like the book, give the other copy to a friend, and if you don’t care for it, give both copies to people you don’t particularly like.

Here’s what others are saying about…

“Grady Brown offers important insights concerning the end-time frenzy experienced by so many today. He thoroughly examines the biblical and historical context for understanding the fulfillment of all things. His book will help shape the discussion for years to come.”

—Kevin Beck, President
Presence Ministries International
Colorado Springs, Colorado

“I welcome Grady Brown to the growing ranks of those of us who have realized A.D. 70 as the time of the fulfillment of all things. Now, in this easy-to-read and well-presented book, he further documents why we must not take the negative baggage of the doomsayers of dispensationalism into the new millennium.”

—John Noe, President
Prophecy Reformation Institute
Fishers, Indiana
Author of BEYOND THE END TIMES and
SHATTERING THE ‘LEFT BEHIND’ DELUSION

“Grady Brown has done the study of eschatology a valuable service with his new book That All May Be Fulfilled. This book is thorough, but not tedious; scholarly, but not pedantic. The book tackles one of the most challenging discourses in Jesus’ministry, and does a great job of giving us the right context, setting, and framework for deciphering and understanding Jesus’ Olivet Discourse. You will find that this book avoids sensationalism, but, it will definitely provide, not only answers for what the text says, but a brighter outlook for the future as well. I definitely recommend Grady Brown’s That All May Be Fulfilled.”

—Don K. Preston, Minister
Church of Christ, Ardmore, Oklahoma
Author of THE LAST DAYS IDENTIFIED and
WHO IS THIS BABYLON?

“Grady Brown’s expository teaching has been an international ministry. He brings a wealth of understanding to the Church from his gifted scholarly speaking and writing experiences. Grady’s present truth book, That All May Be Fulfilled, in my view, will become one of the finer works in print. It will blow away the smoke for many concerning our Lord’s Olivet Discourse.”

—A. Wilson Phillips, Senior Pastor
Abundant Life Covenant Church
Springfield, Missouri

That All May Be Fulfilled stands along any work I have ever read in the field of eschatology. The chapter on ‘the times of the nations’ especially blessed me and illuminated the plan and purpose of God as clearly as I have ever seen it in print. First, the premise of God dealing with men only covenantally, and then that the Messiah has won. The time has now come for the children of God to stand tall and walk in covenant dominion. No excuse is left for Christians to be unproductive. Thank you, Grady, for clarity concerning who Christians are and what our purpose is, and the courage to express the truth of God in such an unflinching manner.”

—Joel Long, Director
Voice of Reconciliation Ministries
Magazine, Arkansas

“Grady Brown delivers a masterful eschatological treatise on the Olivet Discourse. We found his artfully delivered exposition helpful in understanding God’s redemptive plan and the coming of the Kingdom promised by Jesus. Though a scholarly piece, chock full of references to ancient texts and commentaries, and with scrupulous examination of the grammatical and historical contexts of the Biblical passages, the thorough and systematic approach to the thesis makes the discourse understandable. With clarity and soundness, Grady brilliantly presents tenable arguments that affirm that the Messiah of Matthew 24 was a true Prophet.”

—Denny and Angie Sanderson, Pastors
Living Stones Fellowship
Athens, Texas

“This one is a sneaker! Instead of being just another tedious spewing of written information, That All May be Fulfilled actually became an intoxicatingly clever work that truly endeared me to the writing style of its author, Grady Brown. While tackling the all important subject of Jesus’ Mount Olivet Discourse, Grady skillfully approaches what some view to be a troublesome issue with both finesse and scriptural substantiation, qualities not always found together in such a heavy topic. This book is not just a good shelf-sitter; it is a great read as well.”

—Thomas K. Burk, Minister
OnTime Journal www.ontimejournal.com
Manitowoc, Wisconsin

“In 2 Samuel 18 is the story of two messengers coming to David with a report from the battlefield. The first is told to step aside, because all he can report is that he had witnessed “confusion.” The second messenger has the true message…‘David’s enemy has been crushed.’ In writing That All May Be Fulfilled, Grady is the “second” messenger. So much of what has been written and taught concerning Bible prophecy has been based upon confusion and scriptural ignorance, and has sown chaos and despair throughout the Body of Christ. This book declares, without fear or favor, the message from the ‘first century battlefield’—THE ENEMY HAS BEEN CRUSHED! THE VICTORY IS ABSOLUTE AND COMPLETE! AND THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS HERE! Prepare to be changed forever!”
